The Plymouth 11U All-Star team captured their first-ever Cal Ripken 60' New England Regional title with a decisive 13-3 victory over Maine State Champion, Brunswick.
Plymouth went undefeated in the Regional Tournament and finished with a 27-3 record in summer All-Star League play losing only to the Mid-State Mavericks in the finals of the Hershey Park Tournament, a state tournament loss to Maplewood, and a final loss to Wellesley in Suburban League A playoffs.
Massachusetts State Title
The State Title run proved to be a little tougher then expected as close battles with Maplewood and Quincy advanced the squad to the bracket finals. Quincy was exceptionaly tough as Plymouth squeezed out a 4-3 win in the second round while Maplewood ran out of pitching in a 9-3 loss in the semifinals of the top bracket.
But the Fall River sqaud would battle back in the losers bracket of the double-elimination tournament but would have to beat Plymouth twice to advance to the New England Regionals. Maplewood gave Plymouth a run for their money picking up a 7-5 win in Game 1 but Plymouth proved to much in the end with a 6-5 victory and their first trip to the New England Regionals.
New England Regionals ~ Redemption
Last season, Coach Hallissey's minions fell two games short of the New England Regional title as they lost a heartbreaker to the eventual champion, Norwalk, CT, by a score of 10-8. But this season the final tournament stop didn't prove to be much of a challenge for Plymouth as they rattled off 34 runs en route to a 6-0 record overall.
This was Coach John Hallissey's first New England Regional title with this group but third successful trip to the New England Regionals. Coach Hal won twice before as an assistant coach with the 2013 Plymouth 9U sqaud and 2015 Plymouth 11U sqaud with Cabby Brini at the helm.
